Rugby League
2004
The Official Yearbook of the NRL
by David Middleton
David
Middleton's NRL yearbook is back for 2004 with a complete chronicle
of last season - a year rated by many as the finest seasons in the game's
history. From the Charity Shield to the Kangaroo Tour it is all covered
in 'Rugby League 2004'.
As
comprehensive as always, this book includes all the statistics and reviews
that one would expect from this annual release - reports on each round,
the play-off series, State of Origin and Test matches, along with a
summary of each club's performance for 2003 and a look ahead to 2004.
David
Middleton has selected his 'Team of the Year' and 'Top Five Players
of the Year' and each is profiled. The top players are also honoured
by being placed on the book's front cover. The cover design itself is
particularly attractive and a substantial improvement on recent seasons.
The
feature interview for 2004 is with Newcastle and Queensland coach Michael
Hagan, who is confronting new challenges this year as he attempts to
succeed as coach of both his club and state.
Also
included is a special feature on the career of now retired referee Bill
Harrigan. Middleton reviews the controversial moments of Harrigan's
time at the top from the 'cement truck' incident onwards. The
careers of the six 2003 inductees to the ARL Hall of Fame are also profiled.

Some
new statistics are provided which should please many fans. Each club's
record section lists all State of Origin representatives, as well as
their record for most selected in an Origin team and Australian Test
team. Another interesting inclusion is a complete list of where each
club finished in previous seasons.
You
know what to expect with Middleton's yearbook - a massive 345 pages
of rugby league records, statistics and information. Rugby League 2004
continues the fine tradition of previous releases.
